Frequently asked questions...

Where does my child meet her class/coach?

Your child’s head coach will send out a welcome email prior to the first class and explain all the details and specifics.

Do I need to volunteer?

Yes – we ask each family to volunteer just 1x per session. You will receive access to a Signup tool to pick your volunteer slot.

Will my child run in the rain or bad weather?

Yes! We will run in the rain as it is important part of training, however we will not run in any dangerous conditions which may include but are not limited to thunder, lightning, ice, extreme high winds. These will be determined on a case by case basis. You may always hold your child out of class. Remember to let your child’s coach know prior if they will not attend.

Is there an indoor location in case of bad weather?

Yes and no. Yes – if weather turns sour during practice, we can enter the school and call families to end practice early. In some locations we may have the opportunity to use the gym or other indoor location provided by the school, however, not all schools have this availability. Therefore, for schools without indoor space we will assess the weather and decide whether to we stay inside and wait it out or if practice will be cancelled.

Do I need to register my child for the 5K too?

NO – if you have a child registered for the RunFit Kidz program than they are already registered for the 5K.

Will my credit card show a charge from RunFit Kidz?

NO – the charge will be from enmotive, the registration company.

Can I run the race with my child without a bib?

NO – for liability purposes we cannot allow you to run without a bib – please register early for the lowest fee.

I’m not a great runner do I have to run with my child at the 5K?

NO – we realize that not every parent can keep up with their budding speedster so we do not require parents to run.

I’m worried about my child running alone during the race. Will their be people on the course?

YES – we will have many volunteers along the course as well as police officers to ensure the children know where to go and to keep everyone safe.

Does my child need to be able to run a mile to participate in RFK?

NO – we are going to help them gradually build their endurance and speed over the season. We just want them to try their best and if that means running and walking that is great.

I want to train for the 5K so I can be ready to run with my child what should I do?

PR Training Programs offers a Running 101 program that follows a similar timeline to RunFit Kidz for adults getting started running. Details at https://www.prtrainingprograms.com/running-101/

I thought the class fee was $120 but the registration page shows $125. Is there a mistake?

In past year a processing fee ($8 in 2023) was added to the registration fee. This year we were able to include the fee so there is one “all in” cost and nothing unexpected. (And the fee is lower!)
